Reports to: Lead Pastor of Kindred Church (Pastor of Church Planting), Minister of Administration

Status: Full-time (40 hours) with benefits

Position Description: The DCAM oversees A/V production at University UMC, assists with University UMC’s communications, and serves as worship leader for Kindred Church.

Essential Functions for University UMC:

  • Assist in the planning of and preparation of AV components of University UMC worship services and Event/Worship Streaming
    • Provide technical and creative support for worship space design and implementation, including sound, lighting, and A/V
    • Make slides with all song lyrics and liturgical responses for each service, and train a volunteer to run the slideshow with seamless precision with particular attention to Live Streaming.
  • Manage University UMC’s web and social media presence in conjunction with the Senior Pastor
  • Lead production and distribution of University UMC’s audio-visual communications

Essential Functions for Kindred Church:

  • Assist in the planning of and preparation for Kindred Church’s worship launch in conjunction with and under the direction of Kindred’s Lead Pastor
    • Work with Kindred’s Lead Pastor and Kindred’s lay leadership to craft a worship experience (including but not limited to music) consistent with Kindred’s vision
    • Provide technical and creative support for worship space design and implementation, including sound, lighting, and A/V
    • Recruit, train, and otherwise prepare Kindred Church’s worship band for launch
    • Assist Kindred’s Lead Pastor in recruiting, training, and otherwise preparing worship volunteers for launch
    • Provide technical and creative support for the communication/publicity of Kindred’s worship service
    • Assist Lead Pastor and other church leaders in identifying, preparing for, and moving Kindred’s services into a long-term worship space.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and leadership of Kindred’s worship services (post-launch)
    • Actively participate in regular worship planning meetings with Lead Pastor to select worship music, craft appropriate liturgical elements, and otherwise plan/evaluate Kindred’s worship services and the surrounding participant experience
    • Lead worship music and certain other elements of Kindred’s services with pastoral and liturgical sensibility
      • Lead Kindred’s worship band: recruit members, plan and lead rehearsals, prepare for each service
    • Oversee Kindred’s A/V, sound, lighting, recording, and other technical operations for worship
      • Recruit necessary volunteers, coordinate set-up, identify necessary equipment
      • Make slides with all song lyrics and liturgical responses for each service, and train a volunteer to run the slideshow with seamless precision
    • Assist with recruiting, training, coordinating, and scheduling worship volunteer teams in conjunction with the Lead Pastor
      • Manage scheduling and presentation software (Planning Center, ProPresenter, Google Suite, etc.)
  • Lead production of Kindred’s audio-visual, digital, and print communications internal and external to the Kindred community
  • Manage Kindred’s web and social media presence in conjunction with the Lead Pastor

Other Responsibilities:

  • Regularly attend and participate in Kindred Church’s activities and events outside of worship to foster relational connections and enhance leadership capacity within the Kindred community
  • Join Kindred’s Lead Pastor and members in practices of relational evangelism and discipleship through which Kindred engages people without a church home and invites them into the Kindred family

  • Have experience with A/V equipment and operations in a worship or concert environment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in A/V production, including video editing
  • Demonstrate proficiency in digital communications, including web and social media platforms
  • Demonstrate good time management, an ability to work independently, and multitask with high attention to detail
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with staff and volunteer leaders, both verbally and through technology
  • Embrace with humility and poise this role as one of Kindred’s most visible representatives
