LIFE groups are an expression of our abundant life together in Christ, as we live out our mission to love God, serve others and build Christian community. They typically are groups of 6-15 people who covenant to meet together regularly for Learning, Inspiration, Fellowship, and Engaging the World.
New LIFE groups are launched by the Discipleship Team each Fall and Spring. Contact: Mary Ann Kimball.
Current LIFE Groups
Veterans’ LIFE Group:
Veterans are often invisible to their congregations and communities, yet NC has more veterans or military personnel per capita than any other state in the US. This group will meet quarterly to build community and share stories of service and questions of faith without judgment. Launched in October 2016, in Basement Room 5. Open enrollment. Ongoing. Facilitated by John Saitta.
Women’s LIFE Group/Small Group Study:
Join on Wednesdays evenings from 6:15 – 7:45 p.m. as this women’s small group looks at Joyce Rupp’s Boundless Compassion: Creating a Way of Life. Starting May 30, 2018, this six-week study is a Christian guide to compassion. You will discover compassion from science, medicine, theology, spirituality, sociology, and psychology. This study nudges, encourages, and inspires you to grow in the kind of love that motivated Jesus’ life and his mission for his disciples. Please contact Jan Krause for further details.
Young Adult/Graduate Student LIFE Group:
Meets for fellowship, prayer, and Bible study on Wednesday nights, 7:00 p.m. in the University UMC Prayer Room (Room 210). Meeting location subject to change due to special events such as cookouts and participation in community events. Please check out the University UMC Chapel Hill Young Adults page on Facebook or contact Holly Sims to confirm location.
