October 18 @ 11:30 am - 4:00 pm
On Thursday, October 18, the JOY group will travel to Sanford, NC, to enjoy lunch at the always-popular Ms Lacy’s Magnolia Restaurant, following by a 2:00 p.m. performance at the Temple Theater of Ghost the Musical. Ghost is a timeless fantasy about the power of love. Longtime couple Sam and Molly are happily in love and living together in Brooklyn. Walking back to their apartment one night, they are mugged at gunpoint, leaving Sam murdered on a dark street. Sam is trapped between this world and the next as a ghost and unable to leave Molly – who he quickly learns is in grave danger. With the help of a storefront psychic named Oda Mae Brown, Sam tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of protecting her. Featuring such popular songs as “With You” and the Righteous Brothers’ classic “Unchained Melody,” this powerful love story is a fan favorite! (from the Temple Theater website)
Each Ghost ticket is $22 (group price). You can pay us that day, either cash or check (made out to “Jim Kocher”). Our lunch reservation is at 11:30 a.m. (instead of the usual 12:00 p.m.) so that our lunch experience will be less congested and less hurried as Ms Lacy’s will be especially busy that day.
We will travel to Sanford by church bus and carpool. We will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the usual place at University Place: park in the Silverspot Theater parking lot, adjacent to Willow Drive, up toward Chapel Hill Tire. For those who live in the Briar Chapel/ Fearrington/ Pittsboro areas, we will be happy to pick you up somewhere in that area, probably near the McDonald’s on the north side of Pittsboro (our usual place).
To join us for what is always a delightful outing, sign up by phoning the church office (919.929.7191) not later than Monday October 1. This “early” sign-up deadline is because we need to give Temple Theater our final count on Wednesday, October 3. When you sign up, please indicate if (a) you will meet the bus at University Place at 10:00, (b) you would like to meet us at the north end of Pittsboro, or (c) you will drive to Sanford yourself.
We hope you will join us for this delightful JOY outing! Peace and good cheer,
Jim and Sally Kocher, JOY leaders
